Advanced Art: 7th Grade
Course Description
This course is yearlong. We will be learning about and practicing using the elements of art and principles of design. Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills pertinent to this course are centered around perception, creative expression, historical/cultural heritage, and response/evaluation. Students are required to have some previous background or experience in art, and were recommended by a previous art teacher.
Student expectationsClass rules:
1. Respect: for yourself, your peers, the teacher, and art (finished works and supplies) 2. Recycle: paper and plastic and re-use materials, don't be wasteful 3. Relax: slow down, don't run, be cautious and aware of your surroundings 4. Remove: food, drinks, candy, gum, attitude, and foul language Repercussions: 1. First offense: Warning, call home, may lose some privileges depending on severity 2. Second offense: Detention with teacher, time and day TBD 3. Third offense: Office referral |
Supply ListStudents will need to have in class every day:
1. Pencil 2. Planner 3. Sketchbook Not required, but strongly suggested: 1. Supply box 2. Drawing pencils (including at least HB, 2B, 4B, and 6B) Here's a handy explanation about pencil grades. 3. Pencil sharpeners 4. Erasers You are welcome to bring more of your own specialty materials to class, but it is your responsibility to keep track of them and keep them in your assigned cubby. Sketchbooks and supply boxes will remain in the classroom most of the time. You may check out your sketchbook over the weekend and will occasionally have homework assignments in your sketchbook. The sketchbook should be about 8.5"x11", no larger than 9"x12". It should be hardback and book bound.
